Grade Categorization
Please submit your entries based on the respective grade at Tamil school as laid out below.
Lower elementary – Preschool, Kindergarten, Grade 1.
Upper elementary – Adv KG, Grade 2, 3, 4.
Middle school – Grades 5, 6.
High School – Grade 7 and 8
Students can participate maximum of 2 programs under the qualified category.
All creations must be emailed by the parent to btsyearbook2018@gmail.com
Please include the following in the email: Student Name, Grade, Section, Teacher Name, Competition topic selected
All Entries must be received by April 15th 2022.
Lower elementary - இளந்தளிர்
Competition 1: Poster creation - வரைதல் போட்டி
Topic 1 : தமிழ்ப் பண்டிகைகள்
Topic 2 : தமிழ்க் கலாச்சாரம்
Topic 3: உழவன் (example: A picture of a Tamil farmer in the farm with bulls).
Competition 2: Fancy Dress - மாறுவேட போட்டி
Dress up as any favorite person, recite any inspirational quote that would inspire the viewer, talk for 20 seconds about that person clearly in Tamil independently.
Parent should record the video and send it to the email id.
Competition 3: பிள்ளைத்தமிழ் - Aathichoodi recital
Kids should recite Aathichoodi with meaning
அ முதல் ஔ வரை உள்ள ஆத்திச்சூடி பொருளுடன் கூற வேண்டும்
கால அளவு 120 நொடிகள்.
Parent should record the video and send it to the email id.
Competition 4: Thirukkural recital - குறள்த் தேனீ
Recite up-to 10 Thirukkural along with its English meaning.
Candidate should recite the Thirukkural fluently, with clear pronunciation of the Tamil words.
Upper elementary - தளிர்
Adv KG, Grade 2, 3, 4
Competition 1: Playing any musical instrument - இசைக்கருவி வாசித்தல்
Participant can introduce themselves, provide the name of the song and then, play any Tamil song completely on the musical instrument and share the video. Video can be up-to 90 seconds.
Competition 2: Thirukkural recital - குறள்த் தேனீ
Recite up-to 15 Thirukkural along with its Tamil meaning (with no English words)
Candidate should recite the Thirukkural fluently, with clear pronunciation of the Tamil words.
Competition 3: Story Telling - கதை சொல்லுதல்
Say any story in Tamil clearly and fluently without mixing any English words
The video should be minimum of 3 minutes and maximum of 5 minutes.
Competition 4: Essay Recital - தமிழோடு 90 நொடி
Topic 1: உனக்குப் பிடித்த திரைப்படம்
Topic 2: உடற்பயிற்சியும் ஆரோக்கியமும்
Topic 3: நயாகரா நீர்வீழ்ச்சி
Topic 4: முயற்சி திருவினை ஆக்கும்
Pick any one of the topics above and talk for 2 minutes about the topic in Tamil.
Competition 5: Poster creation - வரைதல் போட்டி
Topic 1: தலை வாழை இலை சாப்பாடு (example: picture that depicts feast with Banana leaf and other items starting with salt, pickle, appalam, kootu etc during any Tamil festival)
Topic 2: விவேகானந்தர் பாறை
Topic 3: எனக்குப் பிடித்த பருவகாலம்
Middle school - கொடி
Grade 5, 6
Competition 1: Playing any musical instrument
Participant can introduce themselves, provide the name of the song and then, play any Tamil song completely on the musical instrument and share the video. Video can be up-to 3 minutes.
Competition 2: Thirukkural recital குறள்த் தேனீ
Recite up-to 20 Thirukkural along with its Tamil meaning (with no English words)
Candidate should recite the Thirukkural fluently, with clear pronunciation of the Tamil words.

Seniors – கனி
Grades 7 and 8
